Submit Your Own Gaffe

To submit a story, simply email us at The name you use may be your first name, middle name, or favorite pseudonym. Your story should be short—ideally, fewer than 100 words—and one that you tell on yourself.  (The only exception is Slips of the Young, which may include the stories we tell on our children.) If a friend or colleague has made an amusing gaffe—and has a good sense of humor—please encourage him or her to submit it directly.

Please note that gaffes cannot be mean-spirited. Gaffes may be edited for brevity, wit, clarity, and decorum. Not all submissions will appear on the website; if yours isn’t chosen, just consider that omission one of our many personal gaffes.

If you’ve made an amusing error, but it’s not quite a gaffe, or if you have a story of befuddlement to tell on someone else, please consider submitting it to Missinterpretation.com, where allusion meets confusion.

We would never make the mistake of sharing or selling your email address. We will use your email address only to contact you with any questions we may have about your story.

By submitting your gaffe, you are granting gaffeaminute.com an unlimited worldwide right to republish it in any online or printed form. You retain the right, of course, to retell your story on yourself anytime and anywhere. If you have any questions, email us at
